19th Century Mahogany Elbow Chair by Cornelius Smith
Adding a beautiful antique chair to a room is one of the easiest ways to add individuality and style to your interior scheme, whether you opt for a glamorous pair of antique French chairs in your drawing room, a rustic Windsor armchair in the kitchen, a Georgian hall chair in your entrance hall or a pretty Victorian buttoned armchair in your bedroom, a unique antique chair will always add flair if chosen well.
An antique chair will mix in well with pieces from any era, often an old antique piece will add character to a modern scheme, mixing up pieces from different eras creates interest in a world where it's all too easy to be drowning in a sea of beige or mass produced flat pack designs. Adding an antique chair need not be expensive, of course where antique furniture is concerned often, the sky's the limit for top end signed or attributed chairs such as Chippendale and Hepplewhite.
Early 20th Century Leather Armchair
It can be fun hunting out a beautiful antique chair that is in need of restoration or one lone inexpensive 19th century dining chair that can be recovered to suit your scheme and add style to any space, often these single chairs that have become separated from their set/pair can cost less than those from Ikea and last far longer.
At Hobson May Collection we like to offer a selection of antique chairs for all budgets, whether you want a sumptuous upholstered antique armchair to sink into, a fabulous Jacobean style throne for your sitting room or a pair of Georgian chairs to sit either side a hall table. We always have a selection of antique chairs that are awaiting recovering, many of which are bought by designers to be upholstered as required, not all of these are on our website so please enquire if there is anything that you are looking for.
Part of the fun is hunting for that perfect antique chair that will add character and style to your home.
