18th Century Chinoiserie Japanned Corner Cupboard
A late 18th Century chinoiserie japanned corner cupboard beautifully decorated in the oriental taste with temples, figures, exotic birds, flowers and foliage. The colour and patination of this antique corner cupboard are excellent. The interior of this 18th Century cupboard has three shelves and the doors are lined with a decorative historic paper. The lock is missing, but the original catches enable one door to be securely closed whilst the other door pushes shut and stays closed. There have been a few historic repairs carried out over the years, mainly to the bottom cornice, please see photographs for details. The general condition can be described as 'shabby chic'. The decoration is well done and the colours have a lovely warm glow. This charming antique chinoiserie cupboard and its appealing country house condition combine to make this a brilliant decorative piece that would add character and atmosphere to any room.
