18th Century French Giltwood Mirror

An 18th century French mirror with original mercury plate housed in a gilt wood frame. The detail of the carved decoration is superb with scrolls and shells to the cresting and base of the mirror, together with twisted stems and roses to the sides. The gilding is soft and mellow. The plate has aged with time but this adds to the decorative appeal of this early mirror and the reflection is still very good. A beautiful antique mirror with proportions that make it easy to place in any interior.
