19th Century Padouk Campaign Trunk
A very good quality 19th Century padouk campaign trunk with original twin brass heart locks, fittings and substantial side handles. This antique campaign trunk has an inner tray/shelf that lifts out to reveal an exceptionally clean interior. The planked top is inset with the brass initials, W.S, the original owner of the trunk, possibly an eminent figure who travelled to India and distant parts of the Empire on government business or military campaigns! The condition of the trunk is very good, there are a few marks to the top as can be expected in a piece of this age. There is a very small piece missing from the side of the top tray. The colour and patina are excellent. Today this antique campaign trunk offers many uses in the modern home, either as a stylish coffee table with extra storage, or as a bedding/storage chest in a bedroom or landing.
