Antique Cornelius V Smith Armchair for Restoration

An impressive armchair by Cornelius V. Smith of London. Cornelius V.Smith was a renowned maker operating in the same period as Howard and Sons. Cornelius Smith chairs were highly regarded for their quality, design and comfort and are comparable to Howard and other notable makers. This chair has a high scroll back, scroll arms and sits on turned walnut legs to the front with splade rear legs, one of which is stamped with the Cornelius V.Smith mark. The chair has brass and brown salt glazed castors. The frame is firm and sound. The chair is extremely comfortable, having the deep seat so popular with quality chairs of this period.
