Bronze Dog Sleeping by Jacques Bordeaux Montrieux
A very good quality Art Deco sculpture signed in the bronze by Jacques Bordeaux Montrieux who was a contemporary of the Swiss sculptor, Edouard-Marcel Sandoz. This antique bronze sculpture is mounted on a stepped marble base, and is is lovely condition. The dog is realistically modelled in a charming recumbent pose, as if sleeping. The sculpture has a superb textural quality and excellent patination. There is a historic repair to the marble base, this is not easily seen and does not detract from the beauty of this piece. This bronze sculpture is a super example of the work of this renowned artist and a delightful piece to display alone or add to a collection of bronzes.
