Art Deco Sculpture of a Lioness Drinking
A superb Art Deco period spelter Sculpture of a lioness lapping water, signed by Rochard. Irenee Rochard, a renowned French Sculptor, specialized in animal studies and this example captures the elegant lines of the lioness as she laps water from a watering hole. This striking Art Deco sculpture stands on a polished black marble base which reflects the lioness beautifully, giving the impression of reflected water. The patination and colour of this animalier sculpture are excellent, there are some very minor chips to the base, these are shown in the photographs along with the signature of the sculptor, Rochard. This fantastic sculpture would make an important individual and decorative statement in any interior setting.
