Giant Clam Shell (Tridacna Gigas)
A very decorative giant clam shell with well defined shape and good colour. Giant clams inhabit the oceans of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and have a lifespan of over 100 years. The layers, built up over the course of many years make the shells very heavy and can be difficult to date precisely. This antique clam shell, from a private collection, is in good condition. There is a small historic repair to one side and some minor chipping to one of the front edges, the inside of the shell is lovely and smooth and has a good white colour. An interesting, unusual and decorative object to enhance any design scheme.
