Early 18th Century Chinoiserie Corner Cupboard
An early 18th Century japanned and lacquered chinoiserie corner cupboard, beautifully decorated with parrots, stylised oriental landscapes and mounted huntsmen in pursuit of deer. The high quality gilt painting stands proud of the black japanned background, making a dramatic scene, there are some areas of wear to the surface decoration, but the overall effect is vibrant and the decoration is especially lovely. The brass butterfly hinges are original as are the interior hinges. The working lock is an antique replacement. The back boards of this 18th Century corner cupboard are original and showing signs of age and some historic restoration, solid brass wall fixings allow for secure fixing to a wall (we would always recommend that corner cupboards sit on a corner wall baton, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further information about this). This is an absolutely stunning and well proportioned 18th Century corner cupboard, this piece has the most spectacular painted decoration and would add impact to any interior scheme.
