Early 18th Century Oak Coffer
A good early 18th Century coffer having two panels to the front, original hinges and attractive full length stiles. The interior, with candle box, is clean and offers good storage. The interior has been lined with newspapers and wall paper at a much earlier stage. This beautiful oak coffer has a rich deep colour and patination that is only acquired with many years of polishing and loving care. There are some minor restorations as would be expected with a much used piece of furniture dating from the George I period. The charming small proportions of this 18th Century oak coffer make it a most useful and decorative item of furniture, either at the end of a bed or sofa, or as a warm and welcoming piece on which to display treasures in a hallway.
