George III Mahogany Dressing Chest
A fabulous George III mahogany dressing chest raised on boxwood strung square tapering legs terminating with original brass castors. The cross banded top of this wonderful antique chest lifts to reveal a good size mirror with the original glass and various lidded compartments. The drawers run well and have brass ring handles and fine boxwood and ebony stringing. This lovely stringing detail is continued on the sides of the chest, an indication of a high quality piece of Georgian furniture. The condition of this chest is very good, it stands firmly with no wobbles. There is a very minor historic crack to the top, this is quite difficult to see and is shown in the photographs, you have to look very carefully to see this. It is commensurate with age and use and does not detract from the appearance of the chest. The dressing chest has a lovely mellow colour and patina which is most attractive. The inside fittings and compartments are all intact, complete and in very good condition making this a very special piece of Georgian furniture. This is an outstanding example of Georgian design and would be an elegant and unusual addition to a bedroom or could be used as a decorative antique side table in a reception room or hall.
