Large 19th Century Oil Painting by William Muller

An outstanding oil on canvas by the renowned 19th Century artist William Muller,(1812 - 1845). This large landscape is signed and dated 1843 and depicts a wooded valley with rustic buildings, figures and horses under a dramatic sky. William Muller travelled widely on the continent as well as to Egypt and Turkey and his work was acknowledged for its exceptional quality. His early death in 1845 at the age of 33, two years after the date of this painting, sadly shortened the career of a very talented artist. The painting, which is surrounded by a later gilt frame with egg and dart and foliage decoration, is in very good condition.
